Note to our customers regarding Neck Finishing:

 After much deliberation, we have decided to no longer offer in-house full finishing services on our necks. Current orders for finishing that are already in production will be completed and shipped by us as usual. Because of its historic use in the music industry, high quality, and demand from our customers, we offered Nitro Finishes. It was not an easy decision for us to discontinue this service and certainly one we did not take lightly. The Nitro Lacquer finishing process is very specialized and takes much longer than other finishes like polyester and urethane. For this reason, in an effort to streamline our services and complete orders faster for our customers, we will now limit our in-house finishing options to either clear nitro lacquer sealer coat, Tung oil or raw (all of which do not add any additional build time to your orders).  For those customers who would like to have their necks finished with a full hard shell Nitro finish, we suggest either contacting our affiliate company at www.orionguitarfinishing.com and they can pick up your order directly from us once it is completed OR we can ship your order directly to you and then you can arrange for a company of your choosing to handle the finish work.

Please direct all questions regarding full hard-shell finishes to Orion or the finisher of your choice.  For those customers using Orion for their finish work, all you need to do is to select that option under finishing and then select ship to Orion during checkout.  We do not charge for shipping to Orion – you will pay them directly for your finish work and shipping.

The following options are offered.

Raw: 

Some of our clients prefer to have the neck sent to them "Raw". This would apply to those that want to apply their own finish. Unfortunately, we cannot offer any sort of warranty if you choose this option, regardless of the type of finish or time period between the time we ship it and the time you apply a finish. Please keep this in mind if you choose "Raw" as the finish option.

Thin Lacquer Sealer:

Very thin lacquer application with a semi gloss look and feel, our preferred pre-finish treatment and sufficient to honor our warranty. The advantage of this treatment is that the neck is sealed and ready for the next process if you wish to add more coats of lacquer, clear or tinted. We charge $20 for the labor cost involved in the process. We do not offer this in a tinted application.

Oil:

We hand rub 2 coats of clear Tung Oil and buff to a satin finish. This makes for a smooth and fast neck. Depending on the amount of use the neck gets it will require future applications. We do not offer this in a tinted application.

Aged Oil:

We hand rub 1 coat of a special blend of oils that darkens the wood giving it an aged look. We then hand rub 2 coats of clear oil over that giving the neck an aged satin look and feel.
